Terms and conditions

Last updated 9 October 2026

These terms apply to every vehicle delivery booked with Carteam, whether online, by phone or by email. Please read them before you book. If anything isn't clear, call us on 0161 388 5576 or bookings@car-team.co.uk.

1. About us

Carteam is a trading name of TCT Transport Group Limited.

“You” means the person or business booking the delivery. Some of these terms are different for private customers (people booking for themselves, not for a business) and business customers (dealers, leasing companies and other businesses). Where that's the case, we say so.

2. Our services

  • Driven: one of our drivers drives your vehicle from the collection address to the delivery address on our trade plates. This adds the miles of the journey to the vehicle.
  • Transported: your vehicle is carried on one of our open trailers.
  • Covered: your vehicle is carried inside an enclosed trailer.

3. Prices and quotes

  • Prices are worked out from the road mileage between the collection and delivery postcodes and the service you choose.
  • Prices shown to private customers include VAT at 20%. Prices shown to business customers exclude VAT, which is added to the invoice.
  • If the mileage used for your quote was an estimate, or the details you gave us turn out to be different (for example the addresses, or whether the vehicle drives), we'll tell you the correct price before we do the work. If you don't want to go ahead at the new price, you can cancel free of charge.
  • Journeys involving a ferry (for example to islands) are priced separately. Please call us.

4. Booking and payment

  • Private customers pay by card when booking. Card payments are handled securely by Stripe; we never see or store your card details. Your booking is confirmed when payment goes through and we send you a confirmation email.
  • Business customers are invoiced, usually weekly. Invoices are due within 30 days of the invoice date unless we've agreed different terms in writing. We may charge interest and compensation on late payments under the Late Payment of Commercial Debts (Interest) Act 1998.

5. Dates and times

  • We agree a collection date with you. The day before, we contact you to confirm the vehicle is ready and give you a time window for collection and delivery.
  • Times are our best estimate. Traffic, weather, road closures and breakdowns can cause delays. If we're going to be late, a member of our team will contact you as soon as we can.
  • We aren't responsible for losses caused by delays outside our reasonable control.

6. What we need from you

  • You must own the vehicle or have the owner's permission to have it moved.
  • Tell us accurately about the vehicle when booking, including whether it drives. A vehicle that doesn't drive must be transported, not driven. Also tell us about anything unusual, such as very low ground clearance, a larger or heavier vehicle than normal, or modifications.
  • Have the vehicle ready at the agreed time with its keys and anything else needed (for example the locking wheel nut key and any documents), and make sure someone is there to hand it over and to receive it.
  • Remove personal belongings and valuables before collection. We aren't responsible for items left in the vehicle, apart from items that come with it (such as a spare wheel, tools, cables and manuals).
  • For driven deliveries, the vehicle must be safe and legal to drive, with enough fuel or charge for the journey. If our driver has to add fuel or charge, we'll ask you to pay what it cost. Our driver can refuse to drive a vehicle they reasonably believe is unsafe.

7. If the vehicle isn't ready

If our driver arrives at the agreed time and the vehicle isn't ready or available (for example it isn't there, the keys aren't available, or it can't be driven when you told us it could), we can't complete the job.

  • Business customers: an abort charge of the full agreed price applies, as the vehicle was confirmed as ready.
  • Private customers: we may charge the reasonable costs we've already incurred, up to the full price. We'll explain what we're charging and why.

We'll then arrange a new date with you if you'd like one.

8. Changing or cancelling a booking

To change or cancel, please contact us as soon as possible on 0161 388 5576 or bookings@car-team.co.uk.

  • Before 12 noon on the working day before collection: you can change or cancel free of charge, and private customers get a full refund.
  • After that: business customers pay the full agreed price. Private customers pay the reasonable costs we've already incurred, up to the full price.
  • Private customers' legal right to cancel: you have the right to cancel within 14 days of booking. If you book a delivery date within those 14 days, you're asking us to start the work before that period ends; if you cancel after we've started, you pay for the work already done. The rules above are designed to be at least as generous as this right.
  • Refunds go back to the card you paid with, within 14 days.

If we have to cancel or move your booking (for example because of a breakdown or severe weather), we'll tell you as soon as we can and offer you a new date or a full refund.

9. Condition checks

At collection and delivery our driver records the vehicle's condition, mileage and fuel or charge level, with photos. Please check the vehicle with our driver at both ends. If you ask us to collect or deliver when nobody is there (for example to leave keys in a key safe), the photos our driver takes are the record of the vehicle's condition.

10. Insurance, damage and claims

  • Your vehicle is insured while it's in our care, from collection until it's handed over at delivery.
  • If you notice damage at delivery, please point it out to our driver so it's recorded. If you find damage that wasn't visible at handover (for example the vehicle was delivered in the dark or in rain), tell us in writing within 24 hours of delivery, with photos, at bookings@car-team.co.uk.
  • We'll look into every claim against our collection and delivery records and, where needed, ask to inspect the vehicle before any repair.
  • We aren't responsible for damage or faults that were there before collection, mechanical or electrical faults we didn't cause, normal wear and tear, or damage caused by items left in the vehicle.

11. Our responsibility to you

We carry out our services with reasonable care and skill. If we don't, and you suffer loss that was a foreseeable result of that, we're responsible for it. Nothing in these terms limits our responsibility for death or personal injury caused by our negligence, for fraud, or for anything else the law doesn't allow us to limit.

Private customers: nothing in these terms affects your legal rights as a consumer. For more about your rights, contact Citizens Advice.

Business customers: we aren't responsible for loss of profit, loss of business, loss of use of the vehicle or other indirect losses. Our total responsibility for any one job is limited to the reasonable cost of repairing the vehicle or, if less, its market value.

12. Complaints

If you're unhappy with anything, please tell us on 0161 388 5576 or bookings@car-team.co.uk and we'll do our best to put it right quickly.

13. Your personal information

We use your details to carry out your booking and keep the records the law requires. See our privacy policy for details.

14. General

  • We may update these terms from time to time. The terms that apply to your booking are the ones on our website when you booked.
  • If any part of these terms can't be enforced, the rest still applies.
  • These terms are governed by the law of England and Wales. If you're a private customer living in Scotland or Northern Ireland, you can also bring a claim in your local courts.
